The Making of Collateral Beauty is both companion to and descendant of Unrelated Individuals Forming a Group Waiting to Cross. Each new poem shares a title with a poem in the original book, playing off/making fun of the idea that all poems and stories are derived from the writer's actual life. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't.
Both books may be purchased together for $25 (includes shipping) by check (Mark Yakich, English Dept., Loyola University, New Orleans, LA 70118) or by PayPal: The Making of Collateral Beauty may be purchased alone from: 1) The Poet, who will sign and draw his nemesis on the title page, for $10 (includes shipping) by check or by PayPal: 2)

4) Your local bookstore: a good idea even if it's not an independent bookstore, because if you buy the copy they have, they'll order another one which diminishes the chances of my book getting "pulped" in the near future. Sample poems: "The Mountain" and "The Ordinary Sun" "Saturday Night" "Blind Girl's Litany" "Prose Sonnet" "Before Losing Yourself Completely to Love" "The Sunset" Reviews: Review from Diagram Review from Lansing State Journal Review from Blackbird Review from Zoland Poetry Review from Milk Magazine Review from American Poet (The Journal of the Academy of American Poets) |
